    THE KING RIVER HALL

  120th ANNIVERSARY

ACE has always had a strong commitment to the local community and when we were contacted by the organisers of the King River group we saw this as a very worthwhile project to support.

The official opening of the anniversary event

The hall has had a long and rich history and is said to be the oldest in Western Australia and if the enthusiasm of future committees is anything like the present it will remain an active community hub for the next 120.

We feel that it's vitally important to ensure that as much local history is preserved as possible and we saw this as an excellent opportunity to record some memories of earlier times with older residents.

The turnout was way beyond what was expected and the whole day was regarded by everyone as a great success which has led to suggestions of
a similar style event being held in the future.

The picture on the right shows one of the video interviews with local residents whose memories will become part of local histories that will be preserved for future generations.

Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington unveils the metal sculpture based on an historical photograph taken outside the hall.

Happy Birthday King River Hall and as a camera club we were very pleased to have been involved in recording an important milestone in the history of the area.
