'I am a Camera' Photographic Exhibition

Colin Lowe is about as far away as you can get from what most people would regard as the average photographer.

After a lifetime in the photographic industry there's little that Colin doesn't know about the subject and as one of the founders of the ACE Camera Club he's always more than keen to share his extensive knowledge.
Colin Lowe

One of Colin's real passions is for DIY camera design and manufacture and over the years he's created, not only some really amazing performers but some of the strangest designs anyone has ever come up with.
Colin loves to upcycle and is particularly interested in recreating some of the earliest and most famous cameras in the history of photography.

The Metamorphosis
One of his more famous designs sprung from a challenge from his Grandson you said, "I bet you can't make a camera from a potato".     Never one to back down from a challenge Colin set to and built a working pinhole camera from a large spud.
News of this leaked out and and even reached newspapers as far away as Russia.   Colin's organic pinhole design can at least lay claim to 'having a chip in it'!

The Party Hat camera
Colin's cameras will be on display at the Vancouver Arts Centre in Albany from the 23rd of November to the 6th of December in the main gallery.
As well as the strange collection of cameras, it will include a selection of photographs taken by members of the ACE Camera Club who were given a loaded camera and told to go out and take some shots.
The results are quite amazing and one thing is for sure....... this will be one of the 'strangest' photographic exhibitions you're likely to come across anywhere.

If you're in Albany be sure to drop in to the VAC to spend some time enjoying some 'very different' photography.
