THE DARKROOM COMES BACK TO LIFE

Developments having been taking place in our darkroom thanks to new member Kieran who has a real passion for traditional photography.

Since we converted the old hospital mortuary at the Vancouver Arts Centre it has seen regular use during pinhole workshops and the odd film developing days but unfortunately the cost of printing has meant that the enlargers were never used.

All that has changed since we acquired the contents of the Albany Senior High School darkroom which was going 100% digital.
We can now offer film, paper and chemicals at no cost to members which means that film is right back on the radar again.

We've just had all the electrical equipment tested and everything is ready to go for member who wish to return to using film or have heard all about it but never had the opportunity to give it a go.

There is nothing quite like the magic of seeing your image appear before you in the developing tray.

Thanks to Kieran for all his hard work in getting the room sorted out and everything made ready for use.
We already have members lining up to get back into developing, printing and generally having some time to experiment with different processes in the darkroom.

ACE encourages all members to experiment, create and enjoy ALL forms of photography and DIY creativity.
