ALBANY PHOTOGRAPHIC
EXTRAVAGANZA

Albany has for too long been off the map as far as photographic events and exhibitions go but that's all about to turn around.

A few months back, the Museum of the Great Southern hosted the very successful WAPF photographic exhibition called "Our Coastline" which had previously been on show at the Maritime Museum in Perth.

Dale on the lookout for Albany photo spots.
The attendance figures for this event were excellent and regarded as a positive indication of the support for holding future regional photographic events.

In September we hosted a visit by world renowned pet photographer Alex Cearns.   We had an audience of forty four keen photographers and pet lovers, who enjoyed Alex's entertaining and very informative presentation on how to take better photos of their favourite furry and feathered friends.

Camera Electronic, the big Perth photographic retailer brought down a truck load of cameras and photographic gear for those who came along to try out and buy.
There were quite a few people very happy with the prices they paid for some top gear.

Professional photographer Kingsley Klau presented a very comprehensive presentation on lenses and provided us with a mountain of interesting information in a concise and easily understood way.

Alex is planning another trip to Albany in May 2019 with a practical one day workshop where she will be sharing many more of the secrets of successful pet photography.

The popularity of these two events prompted us to see if we could facilitate something more and the opportunity came up to be involved in Dale Neill's three day photographic workshops in March next year.

Good coffee and photography go hand in hand.
Back in the early 2000's when I bought my first digital camera I attended quite a few of Dale's UWA courses and what I learned was absolutely vital in setting up the basics on which to further my interests in this very enjoyable hobby.

Dale has just spent a week in Albany and has been busily setting up venues and providing local photographers with some input into what they would like covered in the workshops.

But wait, there's more...    As well as the workshops we'll have the opportunity to view the stunning images from the Fremantle International Portrait prize which will be held at the Museum of the Great Southern at the same time as the workshops.
If you're into photography, these are events you certainly will not want to miss.

Watch out for more news and information as we get closer to the events.
