COLIN LOWE'S CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP
Our club is very fortunate to have some really clued up members and Colin's knowledge of traditional and alternative processes is legendary.

After a lifetime in the photographic industry there's very little that he doesn't know about and his recall on the most obscure chemical processes and the history of the evolution of the camera leaves everyone stunned.
Colin has always been keen to keep the old traditions alive and has been a member of ACE since it began six years ago. He has held numerous workshops and is always keen to encourage everyone to get out of the digital rut and try something new which is old.

We recently held a two day workshop in the ACE darkroom which is the old hospital mortuary which has been converted and has two of the most solid workshop benches you could ever wish for.
This time members were asked to provide a couple of digital picture files which were converted to negatives using waxed paper which gives a really nice result.
After coating with the magic sauce they were placed in the sun (yes, we do get sun in Albany) and left exposed for approximately thirty minutes.

The sheets were washed and further processed to bring out the rich blue colour of the traditional cyanotype image.
Some were later bleached and tinted for a different effect.

Once again, Colin provided members with a great experience using traditional chemistry which produced some amazing images that members will be exhibiting in the near future.
