YOUTH IN FOCUS 2 ABOUT TO BEGIN
Last year we trialed a youth photography mentoring program in partnership with the City of Albany.
This proved to be an excellent opportunity to address some issues relating to the future sustainability of clubs, sharing information between the generations and helping encourage a sense of community.
Many young people have a fresh approach to their photography, often being less affected by the application of rules and the need to conform to the expectations of others.
Technology is changing the face of photography at a great rate than ever before and it's up to camera clubs to not only keep up but to try to anticipate the way things will be in the not to distant future.
This year we will be running a series of three workshops taking in to consideration what we've learned from last year as to the most effective way to run the program.
There will be a much greater emphasis on hands-on practical photography and where possible, we will be attending local events and projects to familiarise our students with as many different styles and situations we as possible.
The quality of the work produced at the end of last year was nothing short of amazing and if our club can make a small contribution to giving the younger members of our community a bit of help along then we're more than achieving the goals we set ourselves with this project.
Thanks to the City of Albany for their valued support in this project.
