YOUTH IN FOCUS
Sharing the love of photography
Our club was recently given the opportunity to come up with a project that would provide the 'older' generation with the means to pass on some of our collective knowledge and passion to the young emerging photographers of Albany.

When it comes to photography, the early years can be a time when the young mind is far less inhibited by the rules and the reasons why things can't be done. Our project aims to encourage them to keep that in mind as they develop their skills as professional photographers, artists or just as a hobby.
ACE has partnered with the City of Albany to make available, four x two hour workshops for groups of up to six students at our studio in the Vancouver Arts Centre.
Experience has shown us that four to six per session allows us to make the most effective use of our equipment, work space and above all, provides the best chance to fully participate.
The City of Albany generously provided three Nikon D3400 DSLR's that students can use during the workshops.
These cameras have graphical representations of the shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings on the rear LCD screen which makes it extremely easy to understand just what's going on inside the camera.
We're currently halfway through our first four week course and we're very happy with the way things are coming together. No doubt this is going to involve a fairly steep learning curve as we continually fine tune the courses to ensure they are 100% in sync with the students expectations and needs.
A great big thank you to Lesley at the City of Albany, club members Thelma, Pia and Malcolm who have been such a great help in making this all possible.
Photography and media skills are so important in todays changing world and if our club can make a small contribution to improving their opportunities for advancement in their careers, then both we and the City of Albany will have more than achieved our objective.
