WORLD PINHOLE DAY - 2018

Preparations are under way for this years event with cameras, film and chemicals being organised for WPD on the the 29th of April.

A few of last years pinholes cameras.

Last year we constructed our own ACE cameras at our darkroom/workshop and they proved to be very good performers.   This year some members have been hard at work in their sheds building a wide range of cameras from micro right up to 10x8 so it's time go for variety at this years event,

A well constructed large format camera is capable of producing a surprisingly sharp image right up to A3 size prints using expired paper negatives with some sharpening and contrast added in post processing.

The Brig Amity taken with a 10x8 drainpipe camera.

Light leaks, chemical stains and other 'defects' actually add character and something of a unique hand made feel to a photograph made with a good pinhole camera.

Pinhole photography provides a great insight into the principles of traditional photography and is a great way to escape today's digital world and have a bit of creative fun with the very basics.
