COLIN LOWE'S HOME MADE CAMERAS
In a world that's pretty well dominated by the latest and greatest digital gadgets that most of us simply have to have, it's great to see that you can have just as much pleasure from knocking something up from the recycling bin.
It may sound easy but there's a lifetime of skill and experience that's gone into the design and construction of Colin's extensive collection of cameras that range from historically accurate reconstructions, to complex multi-function pinholes, stereo and there's even some made from boab nuts and believe it or not, a potato.
The latter, a camera that contains several chips but doesn't require batteries.
Colin's enthusiasm certainly inspires club members to have a go at something outside our normal photographic experience and we're following on with workshops on cyanotype printing plus the club will be entering the 2017 World Pinhole Day event next month.
Photography is much more than most of us are aware and our club encourages members to always be on the lookout for new and often old ways of doing things that can achieve results that have a unique quality and appeal.
Thanks Colin for a most interesting and informative talk that was enjoyed by all.
