A WEEKEND IN THE PORONGURUPS

A small but hardy group of ACE club members ignored the adverse weather forecast and braved elements at our camp at the foot of the Porongurups last weekend.

On Friday night we had hurricane force winds that severely tested the integrity of our tents and the resolve of it's occupants.
The wind was so strong that the rain was going sideways and blew through our shelter as a fine mist which soaked everything.

On top of that the generator gave up the ghost so we had to resort to torches and lanterns to cook our dinner and entertain ourselves in the near dark, cold and mist.

On Saturday we ventured out into the countryside for some photos of an old stone house and lunch at the Porongurup Store.
That evening we had a slideshow of a selection of the photographs we'd recently taken in the area for some of the members of the Porongurup Promotion Assn.

Sunday found us touring around in warm sunshine visiting a number of local attractions.

Over all it was a very good get away and a chance to relax in a beautiful spot even when the weather may not have been at it's best.

Thanks to those who came along and I'm sure we'll be having another trip away in the early part of next year.
