Technology is changing not only the way we take photos but in the way process, display and distribute them.

You only have to think back twenty years to realise the things we take for granted today were, at the time no more than science fiction fantasy.

Imagine what the next twenty years will have in store with artificial intelligence, virtual reality, quantum computing, robotics, unimaginable data transfer speeds, digital communication, voice control, and no doubt astronomical advances in camera technology.

It's a fact of life that digital technology is going to continue to have a major influence on every aspect of photography and it's important that we keep up with the changes as they occur.

We invited local tech whizz, Matt Beamish to speak to club members about technology at the second in our series of biweekly Saturday workshops.

Matt covered a huge range of topics associated with photography ranging from how SD and CF cards work right through to disk drives, data backup, the Maker Movement, file types and image processing.

ACE supports the move toward connected communities and we'll be working toward establishing closer ties with other groups and individuals who are interested in joining the expanding sharing network.
