   CAN YOU STILL GET FILM?

The short answer to that one is a definite YES.   Film is still available and there's no shortage of interest in using it especially amongst the younger photographers.

Some of our 35mm SLR's ready for a workout.

Our club has some ex-professional members of the industry who have an amazing collective volume of knowledge on just about ever aspect of photography.

Our film cameras getting some TLC.

We're fortunate to have an excellent collection of  ex- school film cameras and we're about to load up and take to the streets of Albany on a film photowalk.     The subject will be local historic architecture which is an ideal subject for learning composition and most importantly, understanding the MANUAL camera controls.

Having a limited number of shots forces you to take more time in composing and exposing your shots and this is even more important when you consider that film is fairly costly.    Fortunately ACE has a fair bit of stock that will ensure we are able to carry on without cost to members until it runs out.

In following weeks we will be having a developing workshop in our club darkroom (ex hospital mortuary).

Photography has never had so many choices available to photographers and film is certainly one that will always provide an interesting and creative alternative in this mostly digital world.
