ALBANY HOBBY EXPO

ACE joined many other hobby enthusiasts from all around the south and as far away as Perth for this years Hobby Expo at the Centennial Park Exhibition Hall.

There's always lots to talk about with photography and our members are always happy to share information and give advice.

As a club, members have an extremely diverse range of interests from historical photography right through to the latest technology and putting these on show always generates a lot of interest from the public.

Ron Kowald demonstrating his vintage stereo viewer.

There's always some great historic snippets about the early days of photography from the older generation and often challenging questions from young people who may never have seen many of the items we have on show.
Quite often we get inquiries about old cameras that still have film in them and that's something that we can help with via our darkroom.   You never know when a really important photograph turns up.

3D/stereo is always popular and young people find this fascinating, especially when they find out that it can be done with a simple homemade rig, some free software and a pair of glasses that can be bought off the internet for a few dollars.

Our extensive display of cameras, prints, historical items and gadgets.

There were many really interesting and passionate hobbyists with some excellent displays ranging from quilts, model railways, handcrafts, model aircraft, yachts, games, 3D printing and much more.

It's not all about making and showing things, it's equally about getting together with other like-minded people and sharing good times and enjoyment.

Great show, looking forward to the next one in 2021.
