       FILM REVIVAL

With film being a fairly costly and often difficult to procure, Albany Senior High School has decided to dispose of it's darkroom equipment and will continue teaching photography to students with digital cameras and processing via computer.  ACE appreciates the opportunity to recycle this equipment and ensure that it continues to be used for teaching traditional photography techniques.

ACE began life as a film only club in 2014 but branched out to include any form of photographic process members were interested in pursuing.
We've continued to participate in World International Pinhole Day and experimented with all manner of traditional processes and media.

One of the big advantages we feel that film has it is that it's very good at providing a hands on experience when learning photography.

Part of our large range of photographic paper in many sizes.
Bulk ortho film for unusual images.
Developing film and especially the thrill of seeing an image appear before your eyes in the developing tray is a really magical experience and unfortunately something that digital processing lacks.

Cost has always been a factor in using film but thanks to ASHS we have enough high quality film, chemicals, photographic paper and equipment which will allow us to run film projects almost free of charge for members for a good many years.

Not just standard film, we have bulk rolls of ortho film to experiment with and no doubt we'll be constructing many 8" x 10" pinhole cameras to produce really good images to enter into WIPD 2020.

We're hoping to continue to provide young photographers with the opportunity to experience film through our ongoing Youth in Focus program.
