A VISIT TO AN AMAZING
LOCAL MILITARY COLLECTION

For our first photowalk of 2019 we went along to have a look at John and Kathryn Shapland's world-class collection of military memorabilia.

One of the museums exhibition rooms
It was obviously a popular venue choice with 27 members and their families enjoying an extremely interesting afternoon of looking through their extensive collection which included objects which most of us had never seen before.

There is also an extensive library of military books and documents with a nice comfortable sofa provided for anyone interested in catching up with a little history and doing some research on conflicts from the Boer War on.

The delicious homemade scones

Following our tour through the Museum we were invited upstairs for tea, coffee and freshly baked scones with jam and cream which were delicious.

Some of our members on the way down to Wilsons Inlet

But wait there's even more..... we took a stroll down to the shores of the Wilson Inlet to see some of the many species of local birdlife that abounds in the area.

John and Kathryn have put together and amazing collection of historical military items and presented them in a private museum that would rank amongst the most interesting and educational that you will ever come across.

Our club would like to thank them for their invitation to visit, the wonderful afternoon tea provided and time they took to show us around their amazing museum and rural property.
