THE QUEENS BATON RELAY

The Queens baton Relay passed through Albany on Thursday morning on it's way to the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.

ACE photographers were asked by the City of Albany if we could cover the event and provide them with a series of images as it traveled from the ANZAC Centre through the suburbs, stopping at a number of schools along the way.

The event was very well managed and the ran as smooth as clockwork from start to finish. The three photographers who followed the baton bearers on foot clocked up about 8.5 kilometres and were ready for something VERY cold when the procession reached the departure point for the next town.

It was really great to see the involvement of the local schools and some of the lucky ones actually got to actually touch the baton which, from the look on their faces was something they would remember forever.

Now comes the task of looking through a huge number of images to select the best and upload them.

There's nothing like a fairly high pressure photographic task to discover your limits and learn how to fine tune your abilities.

Well done to all involved for putting on such a successful event.
