Is the day of the paper print over?

Is the ever rising costs of paper, printers and especially ink forcing photographers to reconsider printing on paper as a way of exhibiting your work?
Is it time to take the plunge into new ways of producing and viewing images?

Advances in virtual reality and 3D photography are now offering a new, more immersive means of interacting with images as never before.
There's probably never been a time when there has been a greater choice of options than we have today and the possibilities are wide open for experimentation and new ways of doing things.

The evolution of the mobile phone into a highly sophisticated camera has created a massive demand for new and innovative ways of taking and processing images although the vast majority of it may not be considered 'serious' photography.
Never the less, it has created a new wave of innovative devices and processes that present some exciting options for photographers.

What will this mean for camera clubs?    Will the new technology find it's way into club competitions and will clubs need to restructure to cater for new ways of doing things?

No doubt the two dimensional paper print will continue to exist but there's a possibility that it will be gradually replaced by a more immersive and realistic form of image production and viewing.

Our camera club is taking an early adopters approach to 3D and virtual reality photography and is currently experimenting with a range of devices and processes.
We don't envisage any one technology taking over, it's about making yet another creative option available to our members.
