WORLD PINHOLE DAY 2015

We're getting ready to participate in the 2015 World Pinhole Photography Day on the 26th of April.

On Sunday the 19th we will be holding a workshop where cameras will be constructed and the theory of pinhole photography explained.
Camera types will range from a simple drink can camera to something a little more sophisticated for the more adventurous.
For this excecise we will be using photographic paper as the film and time permtting we will have our darkroom operating to carry out test exposures.

On WPPD we will conducting a photowalk around Albany to try out our cameras at various locations.

On the following Sunday we will be processing our images which will be scanned and uploaded to the international website.

The photographs are linked to the photographers location around the world and we hope to submit a large number of images representing Albany.

The image above was taken with a camera made from 100mm plastic drainpipe using 4"x5" sheet film which was developed, scanned and processed on a computer.
The curved film plane gives a wonderful distortion to the image as can be seen in the roadway.

Pinhole design can be quite a complex science but our project is more about creativity and experimenting with all sorts of different designs and concepts.
You will learn a lot about light and it's behaviour as well as produce some images that are unique to each photographer.

The event is open to the public and members of our club will be present to assist everyone in the building, taking and processing phases of the project.
