COLIN'S ALTERNATIVE PROCESS WORKSHOP
Sunday's cyanotype workshop was a great success and we were all surprised at how simple the printing process was considering the quality of the results.
During the week we each emailed a couple of picture files to Colin who converted them to 5"x4" digital negatives.

Colin gave us an explanation of the process before letting us loose on the coating of the watercolour paper with the light sensitive liquid. No need for a darkroom as the image is formed using ultraviolet light.
Everyone cut their negatives to size, coated their paper, exposed their image in the UV lightbox and then processed their images.
We were hoping for a fine day but unfortunately the heavens opened up and we had to resort to the lightbox (foreground left) instead of the sunshine which requires only a short exposure time.
Thanks to Colin for his really interesting workshop which gave our members a chance to discover an entirely different process that produces a unique style of image.
I think we all agreed that this was much more fun than doing a faux image on the computer.
These images will be on show along with others at our August photo exhibition at the Albany Public Library.
AFUG runs workshops on all sorts of photographic processes and every now and then we have an invited guest to talk about their own particular field of interest and expertise.
Workshops have a limited number of participants but our Round Table Talks are open and open to non-members.
