PRINTER CALIBRATION

Making your own printer profiles.

Recently I purchased a secondhand Epson Stylus Pro 4800 printer as an upgrade from my R2400.
While I was completely happy with the quality and additional functions of the machine I felt that my prints were falling well short of my expectations.   The canvas prints were particularly disappointing even though I had downloaded and installed  the correct maunfacturers profiles.
After wasting far too much paper and canvas on trial and error I decided that making my own profiles might be the better the option.
After doing extensive research and considering budget restraints I purchased a Datacolor Spyderprint from Discount Cameras who had them on sale at a very reasonable price.    I have to say their service was up there with the best of them as well.
Great to have a good price AND good service from an Aussie company.

The good news is that the Spyderprint was very easy to set up and after a few fails at maintaining an even scan speed across the page it all went smoothly and effortlessly from then on.
Even better news was the fact that the colours in my test print were spot on and the whole print had a much nicer appearance.

With the high cost of paper and ink, in my opinion, investing in a colour profiling device was certainly well worth the money.
